It’s Blooming Marvellous!

bulbs 52666 640 001An Easter message from East of Scotland Regional Organisor, Chic Lidstone  -  I never tire of how snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils after pushing through cold and dark days, announce that Spring is here and winter is all but past.

But did you know that daffodils actually need the cold and dark to bloom? From a shrivelled up, seemingly dead looking bulb they transform to a wonderful flower. That period of cold and dark actually triggers this “blooming” ability. Vernalisation is the fancy word for this.

When we stop to look we see this story of new life and hope unfold in so many ways. From the traditional Easter Story, to a lovely springtime day and many of our own life experiences we are reminded that new life and fresh hope is possible.

Dark, dreary and cold days really can lead to light warm and colour-ful ways. Isn’t it strange that the very thing which feels so bad at the time, given the right supportive environment can be the very thing that brings new life?

Keep living, keep hoping, and have a great Easter!
